Repost: Ngaji

In Tafsir Al Mishbah, Quraish Shihab wrote that the word “albaab” is the plural form of “lubb” which means “essence” or “genuine idea”.

Something genuine, the Ulil Albaab, can not detach from the source of ingenuity itself: Allah.

[Q.S.3:190] Inna fii khalqi samaawati wal ardh wakhtilaafi laili wa nahari la ayaati li ulil albaab.

In the creation of heaven and earth and the perfect exchange of the day and the night, there’s abundant message for the Ulil Albaab.

We usually understand Ulil Albaab as those who think deeply but it’s more than that, they are people of ingenuity.

Who’s the Ulil Albaab? Refer to Q.S.3:191, they are those who always keep Allah in their mind while stand, sit or lay down.

And keep thinking about the creation of the universe (and then, they kneel down and say) Rabbanaa maa khalaqta haadza bathila. Subhanaka faqina ‘adzaabannaar

(And keep praying) [Q.S.3:192] Rabbanaa innaka man tudkhlinnaara faqad akhzaitah. Wa maa lizhaalimiina min anshaar

(And keep praying) [Q.S.3:193] Rabbanaa innanaa sami’na munadiyay yunaadi lil iiman an aaminu bi Rabbikum fa aamanna

(And keep praying) [Q.S.3:193 contd.] Rabbanaa faghfirlanaa dzunuubana wa kaffir ‘anna sayyi-atina wa tawaffanaa ma’al abraar

(And keep praying) [Q.S.3:194] Rabbanaa wa aatina maa wa’adtana ’ala rusulika wa laa tukhzinaa yaumal qiyaamah. Innaka laa tukhliful mii’aad

And here’s an estimate translation of the prayer:

O God, none of Thou created in no purpose. Holy Thou, please keep us away from hellish sufferer

O God, anyone Thou cast away to the hell has the worst fate, and there is no savior for them.

O God, truly we listen to those who call for iman. (They said) “Believe in God!” Then we believe.

O God, forgive our sins and wipe out our mistakes, and let us rest in peace with those who serve Thou well.

O God gives us what Thou promised as our prophets said and do not scorn us at the day of Resurrection, truly Thou never break any.

And then … Allah heard and blessed them, answer for their prayer with miraculous heaven (refer Q.S.3:195)

Those are sort of Al Quran verses that make Rasulullah saw. trembled and wept: inna fii khalqi samaawati wal ardh (in the creation of heaven and earth) … you will find an overwhelming beauty.
